Listen | Incan Abraham : “Tuolumne”

Incan Abraham

Usually close proximity to the beach and temperate temperatures translates into sunny surf pop rock. Such is not the case for Los Angeles’ Incan Abraham. The LA quartet have set their sights on even warmer climes, channeling tropical influence into their psychedelic synth pop.

“Tuolumne”, a single from their forthcoming full length, doesn’t articulate that jungle pop influence quite like previous songs “Springhouse” or their Ancient Vacation, Sunscreen, and Adult World EPs but still kind of fits into the world influence. It’s subtler. Something underneath the buzzing wave of synth ornaments, the jangle of the guitar, that recalls balmy, humid days.

It’s most likely in the percussion. The laid back but still in time drum hits and the almost imperceptible thunk of what could be a doumbek. “Tuolumne” might be subtler in its use of influence but is not less enjoyable for it, it’s a slower-paced jam that still remembers to groove and make use of Incan Abraham’s excellent pitch perfect vocal harmonies.
