Listen | MY BODY: “Make It Good”

MY BODY 1024x736 Listen | MY BODY: Make It Good

My introduction to Brooklyn synth-pop duo MY BODY happened surprisingly enough due to Portland folk rock outfit Typhoon. Currently working their way through a North American tour, Typhoon tapped their newly relocated former Portland pals to open their recent Manhattan show at Le Poisson Rouge.

At work on a forthcoming EP, we were lucky enough to premiere “New Cat” but their latest track “Make It Good” is a real home run. A pseudo R&B-esque intro gives way to a glitchy synth explosion delivering the track instantly from potential slow jam to all out dance number in an almost imperceptibly minute amount of time. Suddenly the bottom drops out, and a multitude of synth sounds rise to replace Jordan’s spindly coo. Right about that time the tracks turns mostly instrumental but there’s so many perfectly balanced spinning plates, you don’t even mind. It’s simple but engaging synth pop done oh so right. MY BODY don’t need a ton of bells and whistles, just a good beat and properly paired synth tones.

If the EP contains songs with even half the rump-shaking capacity of “Make It Good”, MY BODY will create total dance floor decimation.
